For today’s Blog I will be reviewing three screencast applications. Screencast-o-matic, Snagit (formerly Jing), and Screencastify. My favorite is Screencast-o-matic. It was simple to use and free (limited) They also offer an educator’s plan for 29.95 unlimited. My favorite part about this application was how easy it was to use and upload. Screencastify took much long to download and upload and I did not like the way it added cookies. Snagit work alright but also was a pain to download and it did not seem to function as well with a Mac. It was very finicky! I have embedded my two links at the bottom of my blog. The Screen-o-matic is quick to start my video and the Snagit is extremely slow on my computer. Not sure what is causing it to run so badly.

I also enjoyed using Screencastomatic because of the 15 mind videos we are able to make. Screencastify was good as well, but can only record up to five minutes. I had not heard about Snagit, but after you review I will stick with Screencastomatic! I liked the way you compared its features!
ReplyDeleteI liked Screencastomatic. I felt it was very user friendly. I had never heard of Snagit either. Our district purchased licenses for us to use this past spring and allowed us to have unlimited time on our recordings. However, I found that Screencastomatic was easier to use.
ReplyDeleteHello Milissa, this was my first time hearing about Snagit, must check it out! First my go to program was Screencastify, however I found Screecastomatic super user friendly and I liked that the allotted time given to record was 15 min, which is way more than other free accounts. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteHi Milissa! Thank you for sharing your opinion on the different screencast available for educators. I had trouble downloading screen-o-matic and I went with Screencastify but looking at your explanation on the Screen-O-Matic I can now see how great this tool can be. It gives users so many great options to use when doing voice and video recording. I will definitely will revisit this application.
